1. Do you sell only indie author books?
As a principle, the Indie Bookstore is meant to promote the works of independent authors from all over the world. The Indie Bookstore aims to be the wind beneath their wings!
2. I am an indie author and I have published on other platforms. Can I sell my books at the Indie Bookstore?
Yes. Anyone who owns the copyright of their own books, can publish on the Indie Bookstore. All you need to do is to create a seller/author account and submit your files for publication. It usually takes about 5 working days for us to publish your work in the bookstore, provided all the relevant files are provided to us on time.
3. How much do you charge the indie authors or what is your commission?
We charge a flat commission of 10% of the profit from the sale of a book (Profit = SP – (printing cost + handling cost)). In effect, we only charge you when you start earning. Hosting on our platform is absolutely free. However, if your book was self-published by I Am An Author, our imprint, we do not charge you any commission and you earn 100% profits on your book.

5. What are the advantages of creating a buyer account with www.indie-bookstore.com?
We offer an exclusive collection of books by indie authors at incredible prices. In our endeavour to promote indie authors, we also have on our shelves some attractive offers from our own publishing house I Am An Author. If you register with us, we will keep you posted on new arrivals and new promotional offers. You may also block your copy of a book that is coming soon, and we will inform you once it is published.
6. Can I shop on your website without creating an account?
We prefer to keep a record of all our customers and hence expect our users to register with us. We will not use your e-mail ID for any promotional offers if you opt out of it.
7. I want to gift my friend a book; can you deliver it gift-wrapped with a personal note I provide to my order?
Yes. While placing the order, choose the option “Gift”. Gift wrapping charges are over and above delivery charges.
8. Do I get a discount if I am a frequent buyer?
Yes. If you purchase above Rs.1000 in a month, you will be rewarded with a 10% discount in your next purchase. In addition, we roll out new offers and keep updating our frequent buyer reward system.
9. After I place an order, can I cancel or modify an order?
In general, you can cancel or modify an order if the book has not been dispatched from our warehouse.
10. If I need a book to be delivered earlier than the standard delivery time, is it possible?
We have an agreed speed of delivery with our delivery partners. However, under exceptional circumstances, we can try and get a book delivered earlier if it is possible. Contact our customer care as soon as you place your order.
11. Can I place an order via phone?
We encourage all orders to be placed via our online bookstore.
12. What kind of payment options is available for placing an order?
You can choose to pay online through Internet banking or credit/debit cards issued in India and through Paypal.
13. Is it safe to use online payment options?
We have tied up with reputed payment gateways with the latest encryption technology to protect you from harmful retail practices. We do not collect or store your bank information.
14. When will my orders be dispatched?
The orders will be dispatched within 48 hours of you placing an order subject to weekends, national holidays, natural calamities or other exceptional circumstances.
15. How can I check my order delivery status?
Once we dispatch your order, you will receive an e-mail mentioning the tracking information. Our delivery partner will be in touch with you when your order is out for delivery.
16. How long will it take to receive my order?
Usually, we dispatch the order within 48 hours of order placement. Our head office is located in Chennai. Depending on the proximity of your location, it may take around 5–7 working days. In case, you have not received your order, please contact our customer care or email to us at email@example.com.
17. What will be the delivery charges for my order?
The delivery charges vary according to the weight of your order and the location. It will be displayed in the portal before you buy.
18. If I am unavailable to receive the courier, what will happen to my order?
Please contact our customer care and we’ll help you get it.
19. On delivery of my order, I noticed that a few books are missing. What do I do?
If a book is missing from your parcel, check for the delivery note. Sometimes, your order may be sent as two separate packages because of weight or availability constraints. Once you have confirmed, call us or mail us and we’ll ensure it is sorted out.
20. Will the delivery charges be refunded if I cancel my order?
Cancellation is not accepted and delivery charges will not be refunded if an order has been dispatched by the time you apply for cancellation.
21. If I receive a damaged package or the wrong product, will you replace them free of cost?
We take utmost care to deliver the right products in good condition; however, if you receive them damaged or if you find the wrong order, we will replace them free of cost subject to the availability of stock.
22. What is the process of replacement?
Please contact the customer care to coordinate. Our customer care executive will try to arrange for a pick-up of the faulty package through our delivery partner.
